Isabelle Valode’s practice engages with a labour that is rooted in gesture, and through connecting with the natural elements, such as clay, she questions and attempts to comprehend our origins.
It involves the work of the hands, the emergence of forms, the surprise of new elements emerging, the dynamics of the body, its strength, and the expression of our imaginary worlds.
“I love being surprised, amazed, and engaging with new forms. My work seeks a balance between fullness and emptiness; between that which is recognisable and that which is invented, in order to create a language as part of my personal expression, offering the viewer something to stimulate their imaginations.”
